BENGALURU: The chaos and confusion in state administrative machinery could continue one more month as the state cabinet on Friday gave its approval for the annual general transfer of government employees and officers.
The annual process, which was stalled due to poll code of conduct and the delay in formation of coalition government, was to be completed by the end of May under normal situations. “We have decided to complete the process by the end of July as we want to complete this annual general transfers at the earliest,” minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister Krishna Byre Gowda told reporters.
Cabinet has pruned down the maximum limit of the total staff in each department for transfers from the present 6% to 4% to minimise the adverse impact on the administration and to complete the process at the earliest.
The cabinet also approved a grant of `655 crore for the scheme to be paid as the premium of farmers to enable them to avail the crop insurance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister Krishna Byre Gowda said.A proposal to fill 26 irrigation tanks in Channarayapatna taluk of Hassan district at a cost of `47 crore was also approved.A grant of `16.80 crore for construction of a first grade college in Ramanagaram was also cleared.
BIAL gets more time to repay loan
Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) has got a breather for repaying the loan availed from state government. State government, which has provided K333cr interest-free loan for BIAL as part of investment support for the airport, has decided to defer the repayments from BIAL by 10 years. State cabinet took a decision to this effect on Friday. BIAL was earlier scheduled to start repayments this year, said Law and Parliementary Affairs Minister Krishna Byre Gowda. The decision was taken in the light of the fact that BIAL has taken up works on second runway and second terminal. “The company had even requested the state government to make additional investment. But the state declined. However, we have agreed to defer the repayment by 10 years,” Byre Gowda said.
