Rainfall likely to increase in next few days in parts of Odisha
Centre for Environment and Climate Director SC Sahu stated that a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal on June 26 which may develop into a low pressure.

BHUBANESHWAR: Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, on Friday issued a heavy rainfall and thunderstorm warning at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Gajapati districts during next 24 hours. "Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty wind is likely at one or two places over north Odisha in next 24 hours," weather forecasters said. The temperature remained below 40 degree Celsius on Friday and the highest temperature was recorded in Sonepur at 36.2 degree Celsius followed by Angul at 35.1 degree.
"The monsoon will strengthen between June 23 and 25 due to the favourable conditions of Madden-Julian Oscillation and because of a likely development of a cyclonic circulation over north Bay of Bengal," Director of Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar HR Biswas said.
Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) Director SC Sahu stated that a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal on June 26 which may develop into a low pressure. "The cyclonic circulation may develop into a LOPAR on June 27 and support the increase in monsoon rainfall over coastal, north and western Odisha between June 26 and 29," Sahu said.
The centre forecast heavy rainfall in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Balangir and Nuapada districts between June 26 and 28. Besides, there is a possibility of heavy rainf in the upper catchment of the Mahanadi river between June 28 and 29, the CEC officials said.
