LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Storms moving through Oklahoma and Arkansas brought high winds that downed trees and power lines. National Weather Service meteorologists say they had several reports of 60 to 70 mph (97 to 113 kph) winds as the storms moved across Oklahoma on Friday evening and into Arkansas early Saturday morning. Meteorologist Randy Bowers says winds as high as 77 mph (123 kph) were recorded in Logan County, which is located north of Oklahoma City.
LINDSAY, Okla. (AP) - More traditionally conservative Republican voters in Oklahoma now favor medical marijuana. Their support could ensure passage Tuesday of a medical marijuana ballot question and make Oklahoma the latest to join the growing list of states where pot is legal in some form. Gov. Mary Fallin says the question is so broadly worded it would essentially allow recreational use of marijuana. If approved, Fallin intends to call back the Legislature for a special session on regulations and sales.
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A Kansas-based company is seeking proposals from private rail carriers to provide passenger service between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The request for proposals by WATCO Companies of Pittsburg, Kansas, would create passenger rail service from downtown Tulsa through Chandler and other cities into Oklahoma City. Legislation adopted in 2011 created a task force to study ways to link northeastern Oklahoma with the existing Heartland Flyer passenger service between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth, Texas.
