Volvo Starts Delivering Cars Ordered Through Subscription Service

Volvo says it has started delivering vehicles ordered through the Care by Volvo subscription service across the United States.

Speaking to The Car Connection, company spokesman Jim Nichols said that the XC40 is the first model being delivered as part of the service.

“Care by Volvo deliveries are happening daily across the country. We are awaiting final paperwork from Massachusetts and New York so we may begin deliveries there. That should be any day now,” he added.

Care by Volvo provides consumers with a different way to get behind the wheel of a new vehicle. It bundles insurance, maintenance, and wear-and-tear items into a 24-month commitment that’s payable at a flat-rate on a monthly basis. For the XC40, the program starts at $600 per month.

According to Volvo chief executive Hakan Samuelsson, insurance regulations are the reason why deliveries have just started, despite the service launching in December 2017.

“It’s not something with the car. It’s not something with the concept. I would call the program a success,” he said.

Those using Care by Volvo have the option of changing into a new car after 12 months, resetting the 24-month subscription.

Earlier this week, the all-new S60 sedan was added to the Care by Volvo service. In T6 Momentum trim, it can be had for $775 per month. For those looking at the S60 T6 R-Design, complete with sports suspension and more aggressive looks, a figure of $850 has been confirmed. Further down the road, the range-topping S60 T8 eAWD Polestar Engineered will be added to the program, but pricing has yet to be released.
