VARANASI: A number of burqa-clad Muslim women in PM Narendra Modi’s constituency attended yoga sessions at the events organised by Muslim Mahila Foundation and Muslim Rashtriya Manch at Varunanagaram colony on Thursday to mark International Yoga Day. The women, who have been practising yoga for a year, said that it has been helpful in keeping fit and healthy.

“I have been doing yoga since a year and got relief from joint pain without any medicine,” said Najma Parvin. Yoga trainer Dipali Raman said that women can get rid of many health problems by sparing just 15 minute from their daily chores.

MMF president and member of UP Madrassa Education Board Nazneen Ansari said, “Today many Muslim countries have embraced yoga for wellness of people.”

Ansari added, “Only fundamentalists oppose yoga. Yoga training should be made compulsory in terrorhit countries for restoring peace. The Muslim community should practice yoga to end dependency on medicines for common physical ailments. Every educational institution should impart yoga training for overall personality development of students.” “It is easy to do yoga, and I do it regularly,” said Amna Bibi, a resident of Hukulganj.
