A Deltona man faces on allegations he sexually abused a 5-year-old girl and authorities also are investigating him for similar accusations with another child, deputies said.

Eladio Nieves, 68, was charged with one count each of sexual battery against a child younger than 12 and lewd and lascivious molestation and two counts of distributing obscene material to a minor. He was arrested Thursday and was being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail without bail.

The investigation began in April when the Florida Department of Children and Families contacted the Volusia County Sheriff's Office about an anonymous call reporting abuse of the 5-year-old girl.

The girl was interviewed by detectives, who also were made aware of another possible victim, they said. The second girl came forward after learning that the 5-year-old had made accusations about Nieves, authorities said.

The girl who made the original allegation also said Nieves had shown her pornography, the report stated.

A search warrant was conducted at Nieves' home and he was interviewed, at which time he denied sexually abusing either accuser, deputies said.

Toward the end of the interview, Nieves told detectives he was "(expletive) up in the head" and that he "couldn't change the past" and that the "damage was done," according to the Sheriff's Office.
