Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Festival

12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 24

So much food! Entertainment includes everything from Ukrainian dancing to the Limelight Dance Crew to the Polish song and dance ensemble Kujawiacy. Take in the Alysha Brilla and the Brilltones Saturday night, Jesse T Sunday afternoon and John Orpheus Sunday night.

William Scott Festival and Soap Box Derby

10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 23

Hunter Street, New Hamburg

This Scottish festival honours New Hamburg's founder. The main event is a soap box derby in the afternoon, but there's also music, a fun run, a beer garden, activities for children and a burger competition.

Racers, start your soap boxes! Check out the races in New Hamburg Saturday afternoon. (Doug Kerr/CBC)

Bark in the Park

12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 24

Weber Park, 281 Mansion St., Kitchener

Hosted by the Central Frederick Neighbourhood Association, this dog-themed neighbourhood event is great for those with four-legged friends. Even if you don't have a dog, you're welcome to take part in the dog trivia, photo booth, craft station and food.

Canadian Horse Day

9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 23

Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village, 10 Huron Rd., Kitchener

The day is dedicated to the Canadian Horse breed. The horse has been officially designated as a national symbol. Visitors can get up close to the horses and watch demonstrations.

Art on the Street in downtown Guelph will be held two weeks earlier than usual. The change in dates is because Hillside Festival moved its dates and organizers of the outdoor art festival didn't want to make people choose between the two. (Kate Bueckert/CBC)

Go to Guelph

All weekend

Various events

Yes, I'm doing it again. This section is dedicated to Guelph because there are so many things happening in the royal city this weekend.

Art on the Street — this is my favourite event in Guelph. Quebec Street in downtown Guelph gets shut down all day on Saturday and artists fill it with their work. There's a great children's area (make sure the kids are wearing clothes they can get dirty in) and there's even a mini market where children sell their crafts.

Love Your Bike Festival — Enjoy watching the wrench-off flat-fixing competition, an antique bike display, bike demos, the Blessing of the Bikes and a group ride.

Summerfest — Sunday it's music, food trucks and a beer garden on Johnston Green at the University of Guelph. Music includes children's favourite Splash and Boots and Hollerado.

TasteReal — Located at Ignatius Jesuit Centre just north of Guelph, this outdoor festival has local food vendors and workshops including how to ferment vegetables and a foraging tour.
