IIFA awards 2018 will miss major Bollywood glow this year. It is already known that the three Khans -- Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh -- will be giving the glitzy awards function a miss, due to begin from today in Bangkok, Thailand. Now, few other young Bollywood stars have pulled out of the event at the last moment.

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who was scheduled to perform at International Indian Film Academy awards (IIFA), has exited the event due to the back injury, reported Mid Day. It was at the outdoor shoot in Tehri, Uttarakhand that the actor injured his back while shooting for his upcoming film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu. On his return to Mumbai, the star plunged into dance practices for his IIFA performance. Unfortunately, he suffered a back spasm and was advised bed rest.

“Despite suffering a major back injury while shooting in Tehri last week, Shahid continued filming as he was required to wrap up the movie by mid-June. After returning to Mumbai earlier this week, he promptly dived into the dance rehearsals for his IIFA gig. It was while attempting a tricky step that he suffered a back spasm and was advised against any strenuous activity by the doctor. Although Shahid was scheduled to fly out to Thailand last night, he called off the plan. The IIFA organizers were fairly understanding about it,” said the Mid Day report.

The report added that Shahid’s spokesperson too has confirmed the news.

Actor Vaani Kapoor, who was also to perform at the event, too will skip the function. According an India TV report, the Befikre actor suffered a hamstring injury while practicing for her dance routine.

On Wednesday, there were reports that Arjun Kapoor too would miss the event in Bangkok. On June 20, he had tweeted: “I hate being sick... it’s such a dilemma sometimes do u medicate urself & work thru the sickness or rest it out n lose out on work & ur time...anyway I guess have to rest it out n recover in time for @IIFA & nail it on stage there...”

Thankfully, Arjun has recovered and ready for IIFA. Late on Thursday, he tweeted again to thank his doctor for putting him back on track. He wrote: “Thanks again #Drjewelgamadia for getting me back on my feet all re-energised & ready to take on the world... #recharged #bringiton.”
