Activists moves Bombay HC against interim Goa RERA authority PANAJI: Goa Real Estate Regulatory Authority’s (Rera) move to extend the registration period for ongoing real estate projects till July 1 has prompted social activists to file a contempt petition before the high court of Bombay at Goa against interim Rera authority Sudhir Mahajan.

Activists Kashinath Shetye, Dr Ketan Govekar and others have filed an application stating that, as per the high court’s March 6 order, if the period for registration of ongoing projects has to be extended, “the state shall apply to the court and satisfy the court that the extension is necessary, by making an appropriate application”.

The activists alleged that Mahajan’s order on April 2 extending the deadline was “wilful and deliberate interference in the proceedings of the high court and hence amount to contempt of court”. They also alleged that Goa Rera was permitting registration of ongoing projects as new projects without conducting any inspection.
