BENGALURU: Bengaluru Development Minister G Parameshwara set another deadline for the ongoing BBMP’s multi-level car parking at Freedom Park. The date being March 2019. Almost a year ago, then Bengaluru Development Minister K J George had set March 2018 as the deadline.

Multi-level car parking was proposed in 2007 when BBMP was formed. This was to reduce traffic burden and solve parking woes in Gandhinagar and surrounding area. In 2016, BBMP entrusted the tender to Hyderabad-based company and was supposed to complete within two years.

On Thursday, Parameshwara told reporters that this `80 crore project can accommodate 500 cars and 500 two-wheelers. “There has been delay in the work. The underground portion had rocks, which is one of the reasons for the delay. Officials have assured to complete this by March next year. There is no question of delaying it further,” he said.
