Fishermen warned not to venture into sea

The Regional Meteorological Centre on Thursday issued a warning to fishermen not to venture into sea along and off the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts for next 24 hours.

CHENNAI: The Regional Meteorological Centre on Thursday issued a warning to fishermen not to venture into sea along and off the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts for next 24 hours. The warning is valid till Friday noon.

“Strong winds from the southwesterly to westerly direction with the speed of 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph are likely along and off the Tamilnadu and Puducherry coasts.

The sea condition is likely to be moderate to rough. High waves in the range of 3.5 to 4.4 metres are also likely along the coast of south Tamil Nadu from Kolachal to Kilakarai,” said a statement from the centre.
