KOLKATA: Two persons were arrested for allegedly operating fake Facebook accounts of three prominent Tollywood actors and cheating women by asking money from them with promise of acting break in TV serials and movies.
Police said, Satyabrata Das (26) and Navin Kumar (24), residents of Nimpur in
Kharagpur and
Samastipur in Bihar respectively were arrested from their homes on the basis of a complaint lodged by one of the aggrieved women who was duped of Rs 5000 last month.
In a complaint lodged before
Anandapur police station last week, Pushpita Pal had alleged, she had became friends over Facebook with one of the actors who had promised her a role in a television serial during a chat and had asked her to pay the money to one of his assistants last week. However, after the woman could not bag any role, she realised she was duped and lodged a complaint.
Probing into the case, police arrested the duo and seized four mobile phones, six debit cards, two SIM cards, two passbooks and Rs 5000 in cash.
