PM Modi seeks double digit GDP growth to increase India's share in world trade |

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called for targeting double-digit GDP growth for breaking into the 5 trillion dollar economy club.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone of Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi he said, India's share in world trade has to be more than double to 3.4 per cent. Mr. Modi said, India has achieved 7.7 percent GDP growth and the way it has made progress, the world looks up to it for motivation.
Highlighting the economic growth of the country, Mr Modi said, the FDI inflow and foreign exchange reserves are at a record high in the last four years. He said, the Goods and Services Tax and other measures taken by the NDA government have brought about a number of positive changes in the economy. The Prime Minister said, the country has moved away from culture of delaying work.
The Prime Minister said, the technology has eased the ways of doing business and this is going to grow. He also stressed on the need for reducing dependence on imports in electronic goods and called for making the country self dependence in the sector.
Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and others also shared their views on the occasion. The building,will be constructed at the cost of 226 crore rupees.
It will be built on a plot of 4.33 acres and will accommodate about one thousand officers and staff. It will have all modern technology driven features while retaining the Central Vista architecture.
The Vanijya Bhawan will be a completely paperless office with state of the art facilities such as smart access control, video conferencing, central air-conditioning and completely networked systems.
The layout of this green building has been planned so as to minimise the number of trees that would have to be cut.
The building will be a symbol of not only India’s growing economic might but also the adoption and use of technology in governance.
