The basic character of G.S. Deepak, the suspended Sub inspector of Police of Varapuzha and an accused in the custodial death of Sreejith, was to physically harass accused persons and create constant problems, according to a statement given by Smitha M., former North Paravur Judicial First Class Magistrate before the High Court.

She had alleged in her statement that there was an occasion when he had arrested an accused against the High Court directive. In another case, he had produced an accused with physical injuries despite her directive not to physically harass the accused when the accused was handed over to him. He used to ignore her directives not to physically harass any accused.

The magistrate who is now working as Njarackal Judicial First Class Magistrate had denied the allegation that she had asked police not to bring accused persons at her residence for production. She also termed as incorrect the statement of Deepak that the production of the accused in various cases had to be deferred on her instructions.

Despite the inconveniences, she had remanded those accused who were presented before her even during night time. In fact, she had instructed the police to avoid presenting the accused before her at night as far as possible as her mother and she were living alone at her house. However, she had told the Junior Superintendent of the court that she had no problem in coming to the court even at night for remanding accused persons.

She said that Deepk had made these baseless statement with a deliberate intention to save himself from the custodial death case.
