I am very concerned about the nuisance of excessive noise and danger posed by motorcycles in Fall River (not that it doesn't exist in other cities).

The motorcycles carelessly weave in and around cars, ride between lanes and race the engine at lights. It has occurred on Rhode Island Avenue, by riding between cars at the lights, and most recently on Milliken Boulevard.

I am a former motorcycle rider of 50 years and do not ever remember terrorizing my community and do not have a grudge. Milliken Boulevard, since the traffic signals went in and the new on/off ramps, has been a drag strip, and that is not lawful as well as dangerous. The cycles start at the light in front of the Dunkin' Donuts and rev their engines, then take off together, dragging over the bridge past Connector Street, up to Central Street, going 0 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds. That's not enough time to stop if a car pulls out or a pedestrian walks in the path. I have seen riders enter the highway and blow the light on the entrance ramp toward I-195 and enter the highway at a high rate of speed.

I realize the police (they are doing a good job) can't stay around to monitor this, but something must be done before the medical examiner has to come. Calls to the Fall River Police Department do not get returned, and the Facebook messages do not get answered. I am hoping this letter is read by the police chief and the administrators.

Riders need to respect the law on drag racing and take it to a safe place and consider the noise at lights.
