LUDHIANA: Central Jail authorities have recovered two mobile handsets from two prisoners — Pankaj Rajput and Gagandeep Singh.

In his police complaint, complainant Harbans Singh (assistant superintendent, Central Jail Ludhiana) said that on Monday at around 9pm, while conducting a search on the prisoners, jail authorities recovered two mobile handsets from the accused persons, after which they informed the police. On being informed by the jail authorities, cops of Division No.7 police started a probe into the matter, and booked the accused under section 52-A(1) of the Prison Act 1894.

Investigating officer (IO) Paramjit Singh said the mobiles recovered were small ones. Cops said for the past few months, a number of mobile handsets were recovered from the Central Jail, which has raised serious questions about security inside the jail premises.
