Auckland Mayor Phil Goff says he fired at least one leaker in his office, while also suggesting not all of his councillors are trustworthy.

Auckland Mayor Phil Goff has revealed how he treats leakers, saying he fired a blabbing staff member during his first week in office.

Meanwhile, Goff has taken a swipe at some of his councillors, suggesting he "can't be confident" all of them are trustworthy.

The comments follow a torrid month for the Auckland Mayor – he faces an Ombudsman's probe for his handling of a PwC report on a possible central city stadium, while last week he got a letter from nine councillors claiming a lack of transparency and distrust.
