The Uzhavan mobile app, launched by the Tamil Nadu Agriculture Department, is said to have evoked a good response from farmers.
A senior official of the department said that the app, which was launched on April 5, had been downloaded 1.4 lakh times so far.
Response to feedback
Among the reasons for its growing popularity was that the department routinely replied to feedback from the users of the app.
The application provides information on the government’s schemes on subsidy and crop insurance, the status of seed and fertilizer stock, market price, position of reservoirs and the weather forecast.
