GURUGRAM: Construction work for the ambitious Dwarka Expressway is unlikely to start any time soon despite Huda’s continued efforts to clear the decks for the longawaited project.

Around 25 oustees, who were allotted alternative plots in Sector 110A back in 2016, have been unable to shift to the new area allegedly due to high-tension power cables passing over the land. Huda cannot demolish their existing houses, blocking the expressway alignment, unless the oustees vacant them and move out.

“We will need at least eight months to build a new house and shift there. It’s been two years since we were allotted the alternative plots. But we don’t know where would we go — live in our old houses that are blocking the expressway and will be demolished soon, or shift to the new plot where we can’t carry out any construction,” said Baldev Rana, a representative of the 25-odd oustees.
