49,000 students make it to medical rank list

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 48,937 candidates from Kerala have found a place in medical rank list prepared by the state commissioner for entrance examinations, based on the NEET UG score of the candidates who participated in the admission process initiated by the CEE.

In the list prepared by the state entrance commissioner, 36,398 are girls and the rest — 12,539 — are boys. However, among the first 100 candidates, 51 are boys.

According to the statistical break-up, 57 candidates in the top 100 league made it in their second appearance in the entrance examination. As many as 25 candidates accomplished it in their first attempt and the rest in their third attempt. Among the first 100 performers from the state, 17 candidates were from Kozhikode, 15 from Malappuram and 13 from Kottayam.

Of the 90,233 candidates who appeared for the Kerala engineering entrance examination, 46,686 candidates have been included in the rank list.

Among the candidates who made into the top 5,000 ranks, 2,394 are from the state stream, 2,377 from CBSE and 172 from ICSE. The number of candidates who appeared for the entrance examination from these streams were 30,744, 14,267 and 1,161 respectively.

Of the top 100 rank holders in engineering entrance, 90 were boys and only 10 were girls. Of them, 59 candidates made it in their first attempt and the rest achieved it in their second attempt.

In tune with the Supreme Court guidelines, first-phase allotment to engineering seats would be completed by June 30. Admission to all categories of seats in MBBS and BDS courses would be through the centralised counselling being conducted by the state entrance commissioner, strictly on the basis of the NEET score of candidate.

First phase allotment, as per the schedule, should be complete before July 5 and the second allotment before July 26.

A mop-up round for filling vacant seats would be conducted between August 4 and8. The last date for completing the MBBS / BDS admission procedure is August 18, 2018.
