Macron turns Elysee palace courtyard into dance floor

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Heavy beats from French DJs echoed in France's Elysee palace courtyard on Thursday (June 21) as crowds danced and cheered in celebration of the country's 'Fete de la Musique' festival night marking the beginning of summer.

Held in mid-June, France's national music day is an annual event in which cities across the country organize events featuring local musical talents of all genres.

While rock and jazz players entertained Parisian quarters, the Elysee chose electronic beats, inviting several French DJs, including Kavinsky and Pedro Winter, and other members of the public to join the party.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron joined the revelers, greeting the crowds and posing for photographs and selfies with them.

Musical events will continue to take place in Paris throughout the weekend as part of the annual festival.
