Former Love Island contestant Sophie Gradon dies at 32

Sophie Gradon, a former beauty pageant winner and Love Island contestant, has died at the age of 32. 

Gradon competed in the 2016 series of the show after she won the Miss Newcastle and Miss Great Britain competitions. 

She made headlines at the time for being part of the first same-sex couple on the reality programme. After the show ended, she created her own line of fitness wear and released clothing collections via online retailer The Fashion Bible.

Her friends and partner posted messages on social media this morning.

Her boyfriend Aron Armstrong wrote on Facebook saying: “I will never forget that smile I love you so so much baby your my world forever and always.”

He also shared a picture of the couple together.

Love Island host Caroline Flack posted a message about Gradon.

Tributes also poured in for the Newcastle native from the cast of the reality show Geordie Shore. 

In a statement, Northumbria Police confirmed: "At about 8.27pm yesterday (June 20) police attended a property in Medburn, Ponteland, where sadly a 32-year-old woman was found deceased.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. A report will now be prepared for the coroner."
