DAYTONA BEACH — A suspect who waited only an hour after his jail release last month to steal a firearm and then go on the run has been captured, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

On May 27, Christian Guillen, 18, stole a 9 mm handgun and ammunition from an employee's vehicle in the parking lot of Stewart Marchman Act, 1200 Red John Drive, located only a half-mile from the Volusia County Branch Jail, where Guillen had just been released, deputies said.

Guillen was picked up Wednesday in Daytona Beach on a felony warrant. He was charged with armed burglary and grand theft of a firearm and remained held Thursday on $30,000 bail.

The suspect had previously been jailed on burglary and grand theft charges. He spent one night in jail before posting bail and committing burglary again, authorities said.
