NOIDA: Five persons were injured after a car hit them near a slum in Sector 16 on Wednesday evening. The victims have been identified as Vijay Kumar (38), his son Vishal Kumar (9), Ramdhani (64), Omkar (27), and Munna (30).
Manish Saxena, SHO, Sector 20 police station, said all the persons live in the slum in Sector 16. “They were walking along the road when a speeding car hit them. Four persons received minor injuries in their legs and they were rushed to district hospital. Another person, Munna, received head injuries and he has been referred to a Delhi hospital,” he said.

The victims raised an alarm after the incident and local people gathered on the spot. A police team also reached the spot and detained the accused, later identified as Chandan Kumar (31), a resident of Naya Bas village.

Kumar said the car he was driving was borrowed from his friend. A medical examination revealed that he was not under the influence of alcohol.
