THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Boys once again bagged most of the top ranks in the
Kerala engineering entrance examination while girls aced in medical entrance rank list, as usual.
Amal Mathew of Pallikkunnel house, Kuruppanthara in Kottayam district won the first rank in the
engineering entrance examination, with a score of 565/ 600. Sabari Krishna M of Sreesabari, Perinad in Kollam district finished second, with a score of 553. In medical entrance, Jes Maria Benny of Menachery house, Angamaly Ernakulam emerged as the state topper with NEET rank of
56. Samreen Fathima R of Andavar Manzil, Karamana, Thiruvananthapuram, finished second among the medical education aspirants. Her NEET rank was 89.
The results were officially announced by health and social justice minister K K Shailaja on Wednesday. Education minister C Raveendranath, did not turn up for the announcement as he was preoccupied with the discussions on a bill in the assembly.
In engineering, boys cornered all five top ranks, where as in medical entrance, girls bagged four of the top five ranks.
Nonetheless, the selection of candidates for medical and allied courses is done based on the entrance score and the marks scored by the candidates in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), state government released the list of top performers from Kerala, in the NEET rank list, the results of which were released by CBSE early this month.
Rank list of candidates seeking admission to architecture was also released by the minister along with the rank list for pharmacy admissions. Rank list for architecture course is prepared considering candidates’ score in state entrance test as well as National Aptitude Test in architecture (NAT).
Abhirami R of Achutham, Prakkulam, Kollam and Ahmed Shabeer Pudukode of Pudukode house, Ernakulam emerged first and second in the architecture entrance, with a score of 355 and 349, out of a total score of400.
Nirmal J of Valiyaparambil, Pathanamthitta and Amal K Johnson of Kotta, house, Thrissur, bagged the first and second ranks in the entrance test for admission to pharmacy colleges, conducted by the state government. They respectively scored 320 and 319 out of total score 480.
