University of Akron track and field junior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton) placed 13th in the women's discus on the opening day of the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday.
Wilson opened her competition registering the top mark in the first round of throws posting an effort of 182-0.
She stood in second place after her second attempt with a mark of 178-2 before suffering a foul on her third and final throw.
Additionally, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Clayton Murphy posted an automatic qualifying time of 1:47.17 in the opening round of men's 800 meters to advance to Friday's semifinal round at 8:05 p.m. ET.
Junior Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) is next on the track for the Zips competing in the men's pole vault at 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Redshirt junior Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio) and senior Terrell McClain (Youngstown, Ohio) round out Akron's performers in the men's long jump which is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
