PORT ORANGE – State Sen. Dorothy L. Hukill (R-Port Orange) recently congratulated the 2018 Student Leadership Award recipients, continuing the tradition of recognizing outstanding students throughout District 14.

Since 2005, Hukill has presented her Student Leadership Award to graduating 8th- and 12th-grade students in Volusia County. Students were recommended by a committee of teachers and administrators based on the student’s grade point average, leadership skills and outstanding service in their school and community.

“Every year I am encouraged by the unwavering focus our 8th and 12th graders possess in completing their goals, serving their communities and demonstrating leadership qualities,” said Hukill. “These students are great representatives of their communities and it is an honor to recognize them and celebrate their accomplishments.”
