PATNA: Congress’s national spokesperson and incharge of party’s Bihar affairs Shaktisinh Gohil said on Thursday his party would take up the issues related to common man such as farmers’ plight in the run-up to general election to be held next year.
Addressing media persons in Patna, Gohil said Congress workers would take out protest march in every district of Bihar and submit a charter of demands on farmers’ issues to the district authorities on June 25.

The party has also made public a toll-free number, 1800-100-7140, to hear out the problems of farmers.

“The NDA government before coming to power made tall promises to improve the condition of farmers, but the situation has worsened,” Gohil said.

Taking a jibe at PM Narendra Modi, Gohil mimicked part of his electioneering speech ahead of the 2014 general election. “Modi had said 'Bhaiyon-behno, kisan ko daam nahi milta to mera dil jalta hai',” Gohil said and asked why the PM was not responding to the woes of farmers.

Gohil claimed during the four years of NDA government, the agriculture grew by just 1.9%, while its growth rate was 4.2% during the UPA government.
