Raj Babbar dissolves his own team to boost the party

In a sudden move to boost the party, UP Congress chief Raj Babbar dissolved his core team on Wednesday.This included the media committee, administration, organizational affair team and a team looking after financial matters of the statet unit. 

Interestingly, fearing that some of his own men might go to the media, Babbar issued another letter for print and electronic media saying that till further orders, no party leader was authorised to speak on behalf of the party and if anyone did so, then his statement be deemed as his personal and not the party's. 

A confidante of Babbar defended his move claiming that itwas done to select new faces and re-organise the party. When asked that why was it done as Babbar’s fate as state Congress chief hung in balance, the leader shied away from replying but maintained that Babbarhad the authority to change the committee, till an order in this regard was made by Rahul Gandhi. 

He further claimed that the decision to dissolve some committees was taken in view of the next Parliament elections. 

As per a communiqué released on Wednesday, Babbar dissolved the party’s state media committee removing all spokespersons and media panelists, authorised to speak on behalf of the party with immediate effect. 

The important media committee was defunct for the past several months after former UP minister and veteran leader Satyadeo Tripathi was removed from the post of Chairman and sent to the Discipline Committee by Babbar. 

Besides the media committee, Babbar also dissolved his organisational team along with administration and finance committees.
