The vacant building on Bethel Road that most recently was home to the Winking Lizard Tavern soon could face the serious end of a wrecking ball because a developer has announced plans to build apartments on the site.
Preferred Living has submitted a site plan with the city of Columbus, showing construction of 67 units on the property, 1380 Bethel Road.
The project would include two 3-story buildings -- one with 32 two-bedroom units and 12 one-bedroom units -- and the other with 11 two-bedroom units and 12 one-bedroom units.
Preferred Living also is the developer of the Taylor House at Bethel and Olentangy River Road and Madison Park at Henderson Road and DeSantis Court. Both of those developments are in northwest Columbus.
A representative from Preferred Living could not be reached for comment.
