California deputy breaks car window to free bear trapped inside

A deputy sheriff in Placer County, Calif., came to the rescue of a bear earlier this week after the animal got trapped inside a vehicle.

According to the sheriff’s office, the bear had entered a Subaru Outback in Carnelian Bay and “destroyed the interior so badly that the doors couldn’t be unlocked.”

Deputy Dave Lade made his way to the driver’s side of the vehicle and with his back to the vehicle, inched forward before he is seen on dashcam video shared by the sheriff’s office breaking the backseat window.

He then jumps back once the window breaks before the bear is seen crawling its way outside of the window before running into the nearby forest.

The incident in California, however, was only one of the bear-related incidents caught on video this week.

In Wisconsin, a bear cub trapped in a basement was caught on video by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

To help the cub, DNR placed a ladder into the newly-constructed basement in hopes the animal would make its way up.

A quick learner, the cub made a successful climb before running into the woods. DNR said it watched the bear reunite with its mother from afar.
