BALLSTON SPA — A 20-year-old Charlton man pleaded guilty Tuesday to making a terrorist threat against the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake school district in April.
Joseph P. Rossi of Maplewood Drive entered his plea in Saratoga County Court, admitting that he tried to intimidate "a civilian population" when he posted a video to Snapchat threatening to kill individuals at the school, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney's office.
Rossi is a former student of the school district.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 8, and is expected to get five years of probation with mental health and substance abuse terms, as well as a permanent order of protection barring him from visiting school property or contacting employees or students.
"When notified by concerned citizens of the threatening online video post, the Sheriff's Office and school officials worked together to quickly investigate and alleviate any threat to the public by identifying, locating and charging the defendant within hours of the threatening post," said District Attorney Karen Heggen.
