New treatment facility for hazardous industrial waste in Delhi

The Cabinet on Thursday approved the setting up of Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facilities (TSDF) in area for hazardous generated by industrial units located in the area.

The TSDF will be set up on on 14 acres land as a public-private partnership (PPP) on the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) model with a concession contract for 25 years.

The facility will provide for treatment and storage of domestic hazardous as per provisions of solid based management rules, 2016.

The Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Arvind Kejriwal, also approved the engagement of (IIPA) on nomination basis for the third-party audit of eight autonomous institutes/society hospitals to complete the process of assessment of deficiencies in the government-funded bodies, said a statement from the Chief Minister's office.

The Cabinet decided that IIPA will do the third-party audit of (RGSSH), (JSSH), State Cancer Institute (DSCI), (ILBS), Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitalaya (CNBC), Chaudhary Braham Prakash Ayurvedic Aveum Charak Sansthan ( CBPACS), Maulana Azad Institute Dental Sciences (MAIDS) and and (IHBAS).

The audit will help to point out the deficiencies and shortcomings along with suggesting remedial measures to ensure availability of clinical, diagnostic and full panoply of medical services that each hospital was designated to cater to.

The IIPA was considered as an appropriate agency as it is an established institution dealing issues of public administration and governance, the statement said.

Approval of the will be sought for the engagement of IIPA on nomination basis.
