Spilled grain closes Hardscrabble Road near Laurel after tractor-trailer, dump truck collision

A crash between a tractor-trailer and dump truck Thursday has left Hardscrabble Road outside of Laurel covered in grain, police said.

Police responded to the collision after it happened at 2:50 p.m. on the roadway east of Messick Road, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police. 

Hardscrabble Road is closed between Messick Road and James Road, Jaffe said. 

Police are still at the scene, and the road is expected to be closed for an extended period of time, Jaffe said.  

Drivers should take alternative routes and should expect delays.
