Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has sought an explanation from the contractor regarding the cave-ins along the underground drainage line laid in Navayard.
VMC had drawn flak for the work on the Lalpur-Shastri Bridge stretch of the drainage line as cave ins had taken place there. The wheel of a light commercial vehicle was also trapped in one of the cave ins.
The work on the drainage was conducted using the latest micro tunnelling technique and the civic body was to spend around Rs 14crore on the project.
The opposition Congress had latched on to the opportunity and raised questions about the quality of the work.
