Yoga one of most powerful unifying forces: Modi

"The way to lead a calm, creative and content life is yoga. It can show the way in defeating tensions and mindless anxiety. Instead of dividing, yoga unites. Instead of further animosity, yoga assimilates. Instead of increasing suffering, yoga heals," he said.

PM said that yoga is one of the most precious gifts from the ancient Indian sages to mankind.

He noted the International Yoga Day is being celebrated across the world. "From to Dublin, to ... people are celebrating yoga day all across the world."

Thanking Modi for selecting to host the main event, said the move would also give a boost to tourism in the state.
