Two killed in road accident in Unnao

KANPUR: Two persons were killed on the spot and two other were seriously injured after being run over by a truck near Lucknow crossing in Bangarmau town of Unnao district during early hours on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Manoj and Rohit of Mathar Majra Gadan Khera pocket of the district. The injured have been identified as Deepak and Kuldeep, both relatives of deceased Manoj and Rohit. All of them were riding on a four-wheeler at the the time of the accident.

The truck driver managed to flee the spot along with the vehicle after the accident.

Deepak and Kuldeep, who sustained multiple injuries, were admitted to Bangarmau Community Health Centre.

Police said the victims were on their way to Ganjmoradabad area of the district to take part in a marriage function of their relative when the accident took place. They further said that as per the eyewitnesses the truck was loaded with LPG cylinders and the driver was overspeeding at the time of the accident.

"An eyewitness said the truck driver lost control and ran over the four, who were riding a two-wheeler. An FIR against the truck driver has been lodged and efforts were underway to make his arrest. The bodies were shifted to mortuary for postmortem examination," said a police official at Bangarmau Kotwali police station.

Alleging a delay in police response, family members and relatives of the deceased staged protest at the accident site.
