The city of Wichita Falls Animal Services Center hopes lower rates will encourage residents to adopt a cat - or two.
After a boom of intakes of cats and kittens, the center now has more than 100 felines in residence.
Animal Services is offering a lower adoption rate through the end of June.
Reduced from the usual $50 adoption fee, rates in June will be:
- $20 for one cat/kitten
- $30 for two cats/kittens
The adoption fee includes vaccinations, feline leukemia testing and flea/tick preventive.
If the cat/kitten is not fixed, potential adopters must pre-pay for the cats to be spayed/neutered at the veterinarian of their choice. After payment, adult cats will be taken to the chosen vet’s office by Animal Services staff.
Kittens (who are too young to fix) will be given a date by which they must be taken in for the procedure.
Available cats, kittens and also dogs can be seen at the center, 1207 Hatton Road during their business hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
