BHUBANESWAR: The government railway police (GRP) recovered decapitated body of an unidentified woman from the toilet of a passenger train at Puri on Wednesday. Her severed head was found on railway track at Delanga, about 20 km from Puri. Prima facie, police strongly suspected she was brutally murdered.
“We received a call in the early morning. The train was empty. The beheaded body of the woman was lying in the train’s toilet. She would be in her 40s. Her identity is being verified,” said Gagan Das, an inspector of
railway protection force (RPF).
Sources said the train was about to depart from platform no-8 from
Puri station at around 6.30am when some passengers spotted the body and informed the railway police. A scientific team reached the spot to investigate whether the woman has been raped before being murdered.
