A trial court hearing the Tarun Tejpal rape case in Mapusa in North Goa, on Wednesday, directed the prosecution to facilitate a sequential record of WhatsApp messages exchanged between former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal and the rape survivor in the case, to the former.
A cloned copy of the messages, which will be provided to Tejpal via the Goa State Forensic department, are part of the evidence submitted by the prosecution to the Court. Tejpal has been accused of sexually assaulting and raping his junior female colleague in the elevator of a North Goa coastal resort during an event of the Tehelka magazine in November, 2013.
The next date of hearing has been scheduled for July 16 by Mapusa Additional District and Sessions Judge Vijaya Pol. An in-camera trial is presently being held in the case before this judge.
