Police file statement in High Court

The police took maximum effort and lawful steps to render adequate protection for the smooth functioning of the Synthite Industries’ factories in Kolenchery, according to a statement filed by the police in the Kerala High Court.

The statement was filed in response to a petition filed by the Synthite Employees Welfare Association, alleging failure on the part of the police to enforce the court’s directive to provide adequate police protection for the smooth functioning of the Synthite Industries factories in Kolenchery.

The labour issue had been settled between the company management and Synthite Industries Employees Union (CITU) after 37 days of normal strike and agitation.

Even though the protest of the union was withdrawn, the police continued to provide protection to avoid any untoward incidents.

Later, an indefinite strike was launched and unions began a dharna in front of the company from June 2 midnight, following the suspension of one of the union leaders.

On receiving the information, additional police personnel were deployed and proper protection to the company was ensured.
