Canberra Girls Grammar on 'international' hunt for new principal

Canberra Girls Grammar will launch a national and "international" search for its next principal after Anne Coutts advised the school board she will leave later this year.

Her husband, Ian Coutts, was recently elected Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Bunbury, in Western Australia.

In a letter to families this week, chair of the school board Belinda Moss praised the work of Principal Coutts at the helm of the school for the past seven and a half years.

"Her skills and considerable experience as a principal have enabled her to introduce numerous innovations and build a high achieving, professional staff who are experts in educating girls," Ms Moss said.

"She will be missed."

The board would work closely with Mrs Coutts "over the coming months as we undertake both a national and international search" for the school's next principal, Ms Moss said.

It is understood Mrs Coutts will remain at the school for a number of months yet as arrangements are made for her move to WA.
