Within 24-hours of cracking down `solvers gang’ involved in the constable recruitment drive in the state, the sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) claimed to have made another major breakthrough when they exposed a racket of fake government teachers on Tuesday. The STF team arrested 16 persons involved in the racket which included 9 government teachers along with a clerk and a computer operator of Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA) in Mathura.

Briefing the media persons here on Tuesday evening, IG STF, Amitabh Yash claimed that the STF unit of Agra was tipped off that a gang involving some staff of BSA office in Mathura, is active in the region which is illegally facilitating youths to get job of teachers in the government college after issuing fake appointment letters.

Yash said that the Agra team developed the information and on Tuesday, they raided the BSA office in Mathura and arrested the kingpin, identified as Mahesh Sharma, posted as senior clerk along with three other temporary employees. After being grilled, Sharma disclosed that through some agents, identifies as Chetan, Subadh, Ravindra, Pushpendra, he got in touch with unemployed youths and after collecting hefty some from them, he issued fake appointment letters of teachers to them. He claimed that so far they issued more then 100 appointment letters through which the youths were working in various schools. Yash said that on basis of information given by Mahesh, they arrested the above four agents and also nabbed 11 others who got job as teachers with the help of fake certificates. Further investigations are on in this regard after registering a case with the Kotwali police station in Mathura.

Meanwhile three dozen more `Munna Bhai’ have been arrested by the Special Task Force (STF)  for allegedly assisting candidates with answers through hi-tech devices, such as spy mics, and placing “solvers” for the constable recruitment examination being conducted by the UP Police Public Services Commission. While 11 accused were arrested from Gorakhpur, 8 Allahabad, 1 from Bulundshahr, 10 from Ayodhya and Faizabad on Monday, the STF claimed to have arrested 23 from Meerut, one each from Baghpat, Pratapgarh and Varanasi taking the total arrest so far to 56. IG STF, Amitabh Yash on Monday already claimed that the modus operandi was that one person sitting in the exam will immediately send the picture of question paper to ‘solvers’, who will then provide answers through a ‘spy mike’. He claimed that prima facie, the solvers charge Rs 5 lakh per candidate but they were still probing it in depth. It may be mentioned that over 23 lakh candidates had applied for the constable recruitment exam for 41, 520 vacant posts, which is being held at 860 centres across 56 districts. In order to prevent ‘cheating’ during the examination, the authorities have put in place ‘strict’ measures. They have ordered a ‘’dress code’’ for the candidates and restricted them wearing shoes, heels, flowers and jewellery besides installing CCTVs at the centers.
