Teachers undergo training for NCERT syllabus

Vadodara: Around 350 teachers from grant-in-aid schools from across Vadodara district are undergoing training in the city as Gujarat government has decided to adopt the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus for class nine and class eleven from this academic year.
Both Gujarati and English medium teachers of secondary section who are handling maths and science subjects since last week are undergoing training at the C K Prajapati School for the newly introduced NCERT syllabus for class nine.

The training sessions being coordinated by the office of the Vadodara district education officer and resource persons have already been held for maths while physics and biology subjects were covered on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

“The syllabus is almost the same. But after the introduction of NCERT syllabus, students who clear their class 12, will be more prepared for competitive exams like NEET and JEE,” said Jaimini Shah, biology head in SGS School of Science and Commerce at Gotri, who has been appointed by Gujarat government as biology expert to train teachers for biology subject for class nine in Vadodara district.

“The introduction of NCERT syllabus across all state board schools with bring the state board students on par with those enrolled in the Central Board of Secondary Education schools,” she said.
