CUTTACK: The district administration, basing on the report of Chit Fund Commission, in the second phase on Tuesday refunded money to 188 small depositors who had lost their savings amounting to less than `10,000 in different ponzi schemes.

“The district Collector had approved the release of fund on Monday following which, the administration deposited total cash amounting to `11,82,745 in the savings bank passbooks of 188 duped small investors through e-transfer system,” Cuttack ADM (Revenue) Raghuram R Iyer said.

While a sum of `1,60,150 has been refunded to 20 small depositors of Salepur Tahasil, cash amounting `2,98,770 was refunded to 51 small depositors of Cuttack Sadar Tahasi. The highest `7,23,825 has been refunded to 117 duped depositors belonging to Banki tehsil area.

Notably, as many as 26 small depositors belonging to Athagarh tehsil were able to get their duped money refunded in the first phase of the refund process on June 6.
