Tirupur: The government school teachers, who attended the general transfer counselling, alleged that the event was not properly planned in the district.
They said the online common server of the school education department became functional only after 8pm on the first day on Tuesday. Because of this, the teachers, including the ones who came from other districts, had to wait for hours to confirm their chances for transfer.
“More than 200 teachers had turned up for the transfer counselling on the first day, which was held at a private school in the city. Most of them reached the venue around 8am, but the online server became functional only after 8pm. The teachers could attend the counselling only two hours later. Many of them had to wait after midnight,” said O Sundaramurthy, district president, Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Development Association.
As many as 63 posts were filled on the first day. “We found that there was lack of transparency in the transfer, as many senior teachers were transferred to other schools, instead of junior teachers,” said a senior teacher.
