AIIMS MBBS Result 2018 : Lucknow’s Arjun Saraswat bags AIR 47

Arjun Saraswat started playing with stethoscopes and sphygmomanometers even before he could spell their names.

The Lucknow boy will now study in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, the premier medical institute in the country, for a medical course. Arjun has scored 99.98 percentile to get the 47th rank in the entrance test held for admission to AIIMS in nine cities across the country.

“The results came as a pleasant surprise. I knew I had worked hard and expected to do well. But to score a rank under AIR 50 was exhilarating,” said the alumni of Gomti Nagar branch of City Montessori School.

Arjun also got the all-India rank 41 in NEET 2018, a nationwide examination held to select students for undergraduate medical and dental courses across the country.

“On getting the 41st rank in NEET, I was sure of getting either Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi or Seth GS College in Mumbai,” the 18-year-old said.

Arjun was a little stressed about his AIIMS MBBS 2018 results as he had missed out two questions, whose answers he knew.

“The day of the result was literally spent biting my nails. But by God’s grace, I managed to score a rank under 50 and now I should get AIIMS, New Delhi, which has been my dream college, the best in India,” he said.

“I am very happy to achieve my dream, of studying in the premier institute of this country. My parents have been my inspiration. I want to be known as an empathetic doctor and above all a good human being,” he added.

His parents Dr Abir Saraswat, dermatologist, and Dr Monica Saraswat, pathologist, always knew that Arjun would make them proud.

“By the grace of the almighty and hard work he has achieved the best. Now, we proudly say that we are Arjun Saraswat’s mom and dad,” his father said.

“He is a good boy and there was absolutely no pressure from us regarding studies. We encouraged him to be regular for classes and to take part in a lot of extracurricular activities,” his mother added.

The principal of his school Abha Anant was equally proud.

“We knew that Arjun will do well. Really feeling happy that he scored AIR 47,” Anant said.

A total of 7,617 candidates, including 4,912 boys and 2,705 girls, have qualified the AIIMS-MBBS 2018 entrance examination, the results of which were declared on Monday.

In Uttar Pradesh, the city of the Taj Mahal is a proud home to some of the top scorers of this year’s AIIMS MBBS entrance exam. Four boys from Agra have secured ranks among the top 100.

All the qualified candidates will now have to appear for the first round of counselling on July 6 to take admission to the institute they want to join. The second round of counselling will take place in August and the third in September.

The counselling will be conducted online except for the first round from this year.

There are 100 seats each in AIIMS in New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh and 50 seats each in Mangalagiri and Nagpur.
