India’s ODI and T20I captain Rohit Sharma informed on Wednesday that he has cleared the Yo-Yo test, and is ready to embark on the tour of Ireland and England.

India are set to play two T20Is against Ireland before they travel to England for a full tour, which consists of three ODIs and as many T20Is, starting July 3. The highly-anticipated five-Test series for the Pataudi Trophy begins August 1.

Rohit made the announcement after going through the test and clearing it. The Yo-Yo test has been the benchmark for testing the fitness levels of Indian cricketers.

Ambati Rayudu, who failed to clear it, was dropped for the England ODIs. Suresh Raina was drafted in his place.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami too missed the one-off historic Test against Afghanistan last week as he had failed to prove his fitness.

The current measurement for the Yo-Yo test was raised by the India coach Ravi Shastri and the team management to 16:1.

Several Indian cricketers, including skipper Virat Kohli, have proven their fitness in the past few days at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Rohit was exempted from taking the test as he had already sought permission for a prior sponsor commitment in Russia as brand ambassador of a reputed watch company.
