Roger Federer and Andy Murray claim made by Nick Kyrgios at Queen’s

Kyrgios lost to Federer at the Stuttgart Open last week but put in a spirited performance as he took the world No 1 to two tie-breaks.

The Australian flew over to London following his defeat in Germany to take on Murray in the opening round at Queen’s.

And Kyrgios was happy with how he returned the serve of Murray, who was playing his first competitive match in 342 days.

The 23-year-old claims he has not been receiving the ball well over recent weeks but he is keen to rectify the problem ahead of Wimbledon.

“I haven't been returning well at all the last couple weeks on the grass,” Kyrgios said.

“My singles in Stuttgart I struggled to return.

“When I was playing Roger I really struggled.

”Today I thought I returned pretty well. I broke him a fair few times.

“I put a lot of balls back in play off his first serve. That's really one thing that stands out.

“I always serve okay, like, pretty good. But I think my forehand return today was okay.”

Kyrgios booked a second-round clash with British No 1 Kyle Edmund by beating Murray over three thrilling sets.
