Rajkot: Two complaints of a fraud and forgery, in which bogus resignation letters of the members of Jamjodhpur taluka panchayat in Jamnagar district were submitted and subsequently accepted, were lodged against the woman president of Jamjodhpur taluka panchayat on Wednesday.
The fraud came to light on the eve of Jamjodhpur taluka panchayat president election on Wednesday.

According to the details of the case, Pratibha Kalaria, president of Jamjodhpur taluka panchayat, had allegedly forged the resignation letters of Manchha Babaria, a resident of Bagadhara village of Jamjodhpur taluka, and Govind Varangia, a resident of Sadosar village of Jamjodhpur taluka, and submitted them at the taluka panchayat office.

On the eve of Jamjodhpur taluka panchayat president election on Wednesday, when the head count of panchayat members was conducted, it was found that Babaria and Varangia had tendered their resignations which were accepted. Surprisingly, both of them were ignorant of this fact. Both of them alleged a foul play and lodged the complaint in this regard.

“Though Babaria and Varangia have named Kalaria as the main accused, we are still investigating as to who had committed the crime,” said Jamjodhpur police station sub-inspector J D Parmar.
